Today, no matter which industry you are in, we’re all involved in ‘management’. Think about it: some of you manage people or manage assets, and certainly in whatever position you’re in, you manage yourself, your work, projects and tasks. Right?
The concept of management was first introduced by Peter Drucker in 1954. I’m sure you know and have used many of his management concepts. You would have heard of MBO (management by objectives), privatization theory, ‘knowledge workers’, goal management, knowledge-based management and the S.M.A.R.T. (SMART) method. Peter Drucker wrote about 30 to 40 books in his lifetime. Besides topics on management, he also wrote about issues on sociology, politics, and economics.
